Re: My experiment on Mabon

#16
So I am taking this a bit further.... One day, when all of my goals are completed on Rosemerta, and I have helped my friends in every way that I can, I'd like to find a few other high-level folks to try another experiment.

We would start a new clan and call it something like Benevolence. The mission would be to help others to learn the game and provide a bit of assistance here and there along the way. I wonder how many brand new players start a toon and quit after seeing how difficult it is to succeed, or how awful some people can be? I am not that kind of person, but I recommended the game to a friend who tried it a couple of months ago and recently told me that he hated it because he did several of the quests and they became too hard and no one would help him. They were very dismissive of him and tried to take advantage of his newness to the game.

I see a clan that helps others with missions, provides a bit of aid, and mentors others as a huge win for Rosemerta as we would hang onto more of the new players, and help them get to higher levels, where they could decide to help other clans get stronger.

Feedback?

Yeah, I was kind of banking on getting you on board as well. :)

Don't take this as I want to break away from my buddies. I'll probably use one ore more of my alts to do the mentoring and assisting and maintain my clan membership. We like competition, right? How do we expect others to raise themselves up to compete with is if we drive them away before they fully engage or oppress them and keep them down once they've gotten addicted to playing?

Hell, why not just start now? :)

ok I have my share of experience on helping noobs and having a clan to help noobs, like Ronin which that's all I did.

Pros:
You will find that 5% that actually does level, respects others and turns out to be a great player, like xirxana, levvy, krazic and others that actually grow etc.
You get some level of satisfaction from helping some
You will feel a little better about yourself at some level depending how bad you really want to help

Cons:
Most noobs will never stop to do anything than to log on for gear
They will remind you constantly of what boss they showed up to and when they log on and will keep asking you again, for gear.
95% of noobs are worthless as players, some might even be alts of people you dislike and will jut take advantage of your good intentions.
keeping a bank and an excel sheet to log all drops and their participation can be exhausting, to the point where you will most likely hand everything over to second in command and quit the game.

IMO: the best players in this games have tough upbringings gamewise talking, let them get killed in arena, that way they have some motivation to go level instead of talking in castle and getting into arena to insult your friends based on them thinking they have your back up.

I am done helping noobs, if I find another PINI out there I will level them, as of right now I have a project called MrDooby that I believe will be a great player and I will help him as I can but that's about as much as I am willing to go.

I have been in the arena more than I would like lately, this noobs have continued to attack highers to include myself and others, they also insult us. I am done with noobs, help them to understand that the arena is a killzone unless you are respectable or known, till then, they can get killed like we all did. I don't see it any different than what would happen if you venture too close to Mordris, it leaves a nasty bite, same case in arena, just like we stay out of the range of the mobs we cant kill, they need to stay out of our range, because in the arena, I am mordris. trust me , you will get to the same conclusion.
