Retribution and kill stealing

#1
Over the past few months I have been reading the forums and following the discussions and complaints leveled at our clan. I have chosen not to respond mainly because the persons who are doing the complaining for the most part have never been involved in any of the peace talks and cause most of the grief. As Chief, I have been involved in many talks. We have attempted to negotiate with almost every clan that is active in the Otherworld. Only once or twice were agreements reached and when they were they were usually broken within a few hours, both sides were to blame. Time has now passed and Sulis does seem to be in a different era. There are still a few players out there who have no interest in peace but they are slowly giving up and leaving.

As a general rule, we will no longer be negotiating with Chiefs of other clans. I have done this far too often and all it does is waste time. What we are doing is making it clear how we will deal with other clans.

We have established a policy of how Retribution will interact with Sulis. As a general goal, we would like to see some of the mid-size clans grow. Given the turbulent history of Sulis, Retribution would now like to give other clans the opportunity to kill the bosses and get the loots. We will not hinder their progress. However, we will not help either. It is important for all players/clans to learn the content on their own as we did.

The following rule is taken directly from our clan website:

1. No kill stealing (KS). No member of Retribution shall intentionally KS either an individual or a group. If you encounter someone else who has engaged a target and that they have a reasonable chance of killing (less than 4 attacking Pyrus to hold him until more arrive is not reasonable) then you are to not engage. If the target has not yet been engaged, give them a few minutes if they have more help incoming. If a wipe or reset occurs then the target can be considered free for all (FFA) and up for grabs. If both clans have groups waiting for a boss to spawn then it is FFA. In order not to be seen as a KSer, do not "assist" by doing damage on the mob, let them do it all themselves. Do nothing to hinder their progress.

Mistakes do happen from time to time but any clan member who has frequent "mistakes" will be dealt with and may be removed from clan.

We are hoping that this clear policy will work. As with other clans, we do have some players who will not agree with it and we will deal with them the best we can. In return, we are asking the same from other clans on Sulis. If any clan does want a war we are ready for it but we will not be the instigator.

An important warning to certain individuals (they know who they are), these policies do not apply to you and you will always be fair game.

It is going to take us some time to make sure all of our members are aware of the new policy but myself, the Generals, and the Guardians of Retribution will be working hard to enforce our new rule.

I know these new "rules'" don't apply to me.
I have no fear of you; the fact that you need 8 to ks me just shows weakness... But honestly, if you want to play the ksing game then I'm up for it...

Good luck, and everyone knows these rules won't last. You already made most of the people who can actually kill the bosses you kill quit, so now you're trying to improve the general image of your clan... But as soon as that next clan can kill a boss you want, you will ks them.

Have fun,
Rob. :-)

Phule, I', glad you've posted your clan rules on this forum. Perhaps they can help end this misunderstanding. Also, I saw you in-game with your black obsidian hammer :)

Yea and Sneaky, do you have any ranger items, pages for sale? If you do, I would like to see, and maybe buy some of them.

Wow.

Your clan is just words. I'm sure many examples of your clan ksing others could be posted here, but they aren't... So, I'll post one that I JUST saw.

Day 5 - "No Ksing"
Low levels, mid SV players levels group to kill a Bladewing DISCIPLE... I watch them group and prepare to kill it... Still watching, the group has engaged in the fight and started to kill it, at about 60% I start attacking to assist them in the kill. The group has killed the DISCIPLE... So i thought... As it turns out, the arrogant player Bandos had ksed the DISCIPLE from the newbs.

So much for "No KSing.
Mistakes do happen from time to time but any clan member who has frequent "mistakes" will be dealt with and may be removed from clan.

I doubt anything will happen, it's Retribution's nature to KS.

That was the group I was in. But Bandos did group Vendral for Laird which makes up for it, as far as Im concerned, though my group felt differently.
Wait... So, if I help one of your clan on a Shalemont Defector, I have a free-pass to KS your groups? Great!

Anyone want help with Defectors?

Bravo Robert, thanks for always trying to keep the hatred flowing...the server will be a much nicer place when you finally move on.

From what I have heard from talking to relevant people on the sulis our policy is working. Yes, there are a few hicups but that is to be expected. It is a work in progress and we will get there. Why don't you try to help by not throwing gas on the flames whenever you can.
