Re: Target lock

heres an example: the other day me and a few of my clan members were in sv helpin me kill thossos, i see term fly by, think nothing of it, we then run over to check spearhorn and realize that the real spearhorn spawn was up. At this point term had already started attacking and had take 10-15% hp. Now none of us need for quest (however for a lower level clan like prom, air tabs are useful to gear our clan) but we started attacking anyway because we assumed there was no way we cud ks term seeing as he was hitting 3k+ with his attacks. However because of the target lock system, we locked it, we werent proud of it and i fealt a lil bit bad. did we have the right to ks? is it right that its so easy to ks higher levels?

Your clan needed it, he's did not.

If anything thats is why target lock was implemented for situations like this, my clan doesn't even boss otherworld. Mainly because we are very small but also because we don't need it and when we do its just for the rings and gold.

Lower clans should be given a chance for bosses such as these and this is that chance they are being given, I'm sure Term wouldn't mind at all since 20-30k is nothing for a person of his level but for you it could be the difference for gearing a clannie with meteor legs where as with term it's just pocket change.

thats where the problem is term found the boss he was killing it in all right it was his boss he should have had it but they came late and attacked it and got the lock. No matter the excuse the fact is if u are not there and someone else finds the boss and starts to kill it they should get it. Target lock whole reason is to stop ksing not give unfair advantage to those who dont lvl. Also for those who suggest backing off and letting them wipe well have u considered they could just buy time for their group to come even if they wipe and u start again they can just lock it on u again and again until their group comes. The simple lock system should be this a straight 30% regardless of ur lvl if a low lvl group sees a boss first and starts it chances are its to late for another group to come and take it. 30% also gives enough time to have a fun competitive fight for a boss. Btw maybe term needed the tabs for an alt or a clan members alt by what u say he has every right to kill it to and should have gotten it over the other group.

ummm target lock is broken imo

a higher level tank can find atrisal for instance and start killing him
then a lower level can come over 4 minutes later and take the kill because 1. they dont need to do as much damage and 2. hes a tank

the tank part is partially their fault but the kill should still technically be the tanks

easy solution: make target lock the same for everyone

target lock is a great idea but its level biased

If target lock was the same for everyone, it would basically be like there is no target lock.. ._.

My guess is that it's directed for lower levels (or around the actual level of the boss) to have a chance on bosses..

It's called a "boss" for a reason.

How about this. To counter a low level (closer to mob level) group rolling up and locking a mob that someone has been fighting, we add a time lock as well as a damage lock. whichever is achieved first obtains lock. it would work like this.

I'm going to use 30% as default damage lock, and 30 seconds, just to explain.

Ms. 150 begins attacking Falgren. If 30% damage is achieved, it locks. OR, if 30 seconds goes by and no one attacks, it locks. If someone rolls up and hits the mob before the 30 second timer, it defaults to damage lock.

You could also have it with time steps. something like this. after every five seconds that no one attacks the mob while you are attacking, the damage percentage required to lock decreases. basically equaling, since you found the mob, and have been hitting the mob longer, you get a distinct advantage. Just like in the real world, timing is everything. being in the right place at the right time should afford you more than being lower level and happening on a mob that someone else found first.

You should seriously consider working for the people that introduced target lock in the first place.
