Re: What is difference between attack and damage?

Omaomaoma yer not reading this conversation with a high level of reading comprehension.

We are talking about attack and damage, not interupts. Your defense rating effects how often you get interupted, of course. But the actual Attack rating, or Defense rating, don't ever weigh in on whether any skill or ability hits. Because as soon as you successfully cast or successfuly use a skill, they hit. Attack and Defense are only relative to auto attacks, and even in terms of interupts, a Druids defense rating is only a rating that is relative to enemy auto attacks that could interupt him. Not enemy skills. (because those always hit when successfully cast)

You are the one that made the comment that Defense is not a factor when it comes to skill casting/ spells which is incorrect. Defense directly afffects whether or not you can successfully cast a skill when being attacked. I agree that attack is the factor used to determine if your melee attack hits and that damage determines the melee damage you do - the armor of your target. I did not want people thinking defense is not an important factor in the game, especially when using skills!

People are getting too emotional about this. Please chill. Tea, un-New York yourself for a while. You have been biting heads off lately.
OK Teas original post was correct and he did not address interruption of skills in that post.
Omaomaoma is also correct but only partially. If you find yourself getting your skills interrupted then increasing your Dex will solve that problem. However, some skills do not tend to get interrupted. I am trying to think of all the skills that I have that dont get interrupted. It appears to be the attack skills like pummel, giant swing, and Shield bash, fire bolt and ice shards that do not get interrupted. Noncombat skills like bandage wounds do get interrupted.
My suggestion is, only increase Dex if you notice a need but there are others who are huge Dex advocates.

Edit Ice Shards does get interrupted.

I understand yer point. But my comment was geared toward defense not being a defensive factor against the offensive skills/spells. Since offensive skills/spells don't take any account of Defense when they land.

Your point is valid in that your personal defense does take into account your own personal success at spell casting, though not skill casting, since skills don't get interupted.

The good news?: this entire system gets flipped on it's head in Update 3 because all skills and all spells can be negated. Including boss skills and mob skills and opposing pvp skills. So it's a fun new world soon

Side note: I wrote that post like um.. 3 weeks ago. So lol I guess NYC fluctuates in my posts. All respect

We are cool. Im not upset. Just trying to share accurate information. All skills ans spells have a chance at being interrupted. The faster casting skills get interrrupted less and the slower ones get interrrupted more easilly. Ice shards definitely gets interrupted - i know from personal experince. Everything of couse will need to be relearned because of the changes in the update. It will fun and exciting for sure. We will all be noobs lol.

Lol yeah. It's not a hard system to learn it's just gonna take time adjusting game knowledge that you have known for months to a new system. But once you grasp it, it should provide tons of fun. Nothing is cooler in game than Deflecting a boss like Falgren's spells so that they do no DMG. But nothing is sadder than seeing Falgren deflect yours.

And since it's all tied to new abilities (5 new) that "deflect" direct DMG spells, "withstand" direct DMG skills, "shrug off" DoT's and Debuffs as well as "evade" roots/bolas etc as your lvl increases your ability to dodge more skills/spells increases. I think people will really like the system, in both pvp and pve, it's cool never really knowing how a battle will turn out because you never know what will hit or miss and how you need to adjust your tactics to respond to it.

i'm glad that some things are changing therefore relearned because most of what u guys just said went way over my head :? i could understand it if i took the time but if most stuff is going to change then i will just wait to learn it then :) i won't be the only dumbass out there :D
I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.
