Yup. Everytime.

Runescape doesn't roll on iOS. And i shouldnt hafta tell anyone here the difference coding a game for a PC and for a mobile device, there are a few limitations conceptually with what can really be accomplished. And I think the coding to make the AH on all world's vs just their own world would be multi-nuanced and extremely non-feasible u less they knew they were gonna be doing that from the get-go and have been laying down that code for weeks.

Anyone here could tell you how much an elm disc goes for, it goes for a different price each server, and even better it goes for exactly as much as you can sell it for. An auction house wont codify the prices, people will still be undercutting, floating, skeeving, flooding and twisting prices to suit their needs. What an AH would do is leave actual notes for everyone to read and see what the percieved prices are..and allow a mail system to deliver the goods after bought, not make you hafta wait for people to all be on. Convenience is what the AH contributes, the player economy is autonomous from it.

The current player-run economy isn't great because there are few real supply/demand itemizations to farm, sell and buy. Dragon Frags and Crests right now are perhaps something, sunstones are a minor wrinkle, but really without a comprehensive crafting system where people all need what everyone else has and an AH to easily bridge the go between to help prices start to shape server-to-server there really is only a skeletal at best economy.

I don't see this game getting huge until the infrastructure exists to allow it to be huge..and while AH's mail, and server switches are all needed infrastructure, i hope they are all added with serious safeguards vs scamming because as good as many of these things can be for the game, they also can easily create a new Woodstock for Scamming. And like it or not, the easiest way to prevent many people from constantly switching servers IS to make a server switch cost 50+ Plat.

If you make server switch cost plat then also give the nonplat buyers a chance to switch servers (-plat as a rare loot drop-).
Imagine a whole clan going from herne to arawn but in that clan are 2 (GOOD) players who can't buy plat (too young? No money?) the clan will miss them and they will be alone...

Make it like a book that can be traded, issue solved.

I'm getting a bit fed up with this game lately, I love it, but the lack of changes/updates, the lack of decent support, the lack of everything basically. I can't see it being too long before a lot of the main "funders" give up the ghost and switch games.

Agree with that Donko.. That would be great.

As for anyone saying it will increase scammers etc... That's no reason for not doing it.. If anyone gets scammed these days, I'm sorry but they gotta be a real dumbass.

1. It comes up in text when an item is added / removed in trade.
2. There is another check screen even after your first tick.
3. Don't trust ANYONE to xfer for you, or lend them items, if theirs even the slightest chance that you don't trust them.

If you stick to those 3 points above, you will NEVER get scammed.. And if people are dumb enough to still get scammed after what OTM has introduced, then that really is their problem.

The point a about scamming is not a out the individual scammer, nor the scammee. It is about the system. Doing things that allow scamming to be profitable greatly increase the likelihood of such activity. It is unecessary.

Server transfers would be nice, but also represents a huge change to the game dynamic. Initially it will kill some servers, both through under population and over population. There will be people, as represented in this thread, who are simply moving from server to server for their own gain, whether that be in game economy, drops or scamming. Initially this will erode the community coherence of the servers, though that will work out over time most likely.

The OP is based on an unexamined, and potentially destructive, growth model that as far as I can tell is quite different from the growth model represented by OTM.

I feel a trade-able plat item could work. I also feel it should have real restrictions, like once a month and maybe transfers at the level of user rather than toon. If you want multiple toons on multiple servers you can do that now. Such restrictions would require that people really think about transferring before they do it and means that they are much more likely to contribute to the quality of game play and server community, rather than just engaging in things like opportunistic boss farming.

In short, I feel it would be nice if well implemented, but is in no way necessary in order for the game to continue to grow. There are more important things for that.

Well you need to work on your interpreting skills because I'm already the in the top 10 richest players in the game and I have the potential to be the richest by a long shot once the grand exchange is released.
Not trying to be rude to you, but money is not my motive, I already have plenty.

how about allowing server changes for free and build a new server that has one auction house.
People would have to go to that would to buy/sell/trade/ post items on the auction house. And this would create a huge area for the market place.

Plus, I'm sorry but the more this game can become like runescape the better off it will be.
I know you guys hate hearing that but it's only because your ignorant.
CH is planning on bringing out skills - just like runescape has - you guys loved the idea ( I have proof )
CH is planning on bringing an auction house or grand exchange - just like runescape

I'm not trying to turn this game into runescape, and I'm not trying to add everything from runescape to this game.
What I am trying to do is pick apart the very successful factors that runescape has. Once I pick apart all the successful pieces, then I'll move onto another MMO and pick apart those successful pieces. And then one day we will have created a beautiful puzzle.

Everyone who doesn't want to change servers, please give me the exact details and reasons why you don't want this? It makes 0 sence to me to not want more freedom... Maybe you guys just don't live in America and aren't used to freedom.

1- you have just more or less reified my observation

2- no, I would say you are more interested in fame and power at the moment. If your sense of economic profit is in some way compromised you will be interested in that again and continue to be interested in maintaining that so you can claim to be the richest player... You know as part of fame and power. The gold leader board is not an accurate measure of wealth. Currently the top gold player from Rhiannon is 33 on the boards.

Nothing wrong with all this. It's just not a good design or decision making criteria for me and seems inconsistent with OTMs directional and stated intent. I would guess you don't beleive OTM though. Here is a very interesting article on alternative relationships to growth:

3- you do not seem to see your own model of things, or even that you have a fixed model as far as I can tell. This is not personal to you and is a human condition. Wisdom, which I do not claim to have, is in part the process of becoming aware of this condition

4- In the MMO community at large, historically speaking, Runescape is considered an entirely failed game. Good concept, abominable execution. Generally considered one of the worst models existing. I think you should consider playing Eve, since it is more about what interests you as far as I can tell.
