Re: Nobody needs a Mage

So a clan member announces chained king and My Mage runs to help. I'm number 5 on the scene and instead of joining me I get,
"hey don't you have a Druid, we need a Druid."
"yes but he is only 80 level with a 600 heal"
"ok that would be more useful"
"ouch that hurts"
"I mean for this group"
So I use my other iPad and get my Druid there.
So what happens. They join other players and both my toons sit there and watch. While working the periodic add.

Sad. And from clan members.
Sorry to hear that; but I think this is more a clan issue than a class (or mage) issue. I can see how a Druid may be needed in the group (if there isn't one, or more was needed) but you shouldn't have been kicked from the group (or not invited to it). In my clan, the only time this happens (and you're asked to leave group, not kicked or not invited) is if a higher level needs a spot. Low(est) level member is asked to leave, unless they have the mob for a quest.

Join a diff clan :p

For any mages wondering about higher level lures and leveling wyrens. I did a little testing last week.

39/30 cold
30/30 slash
30/30 pierce

All hits from warriors and rogues were roughly doubled. In a group of 5 or more this cuts the kill time in half. In smaller groups I think it's better to have the mage do some dps instead of max lures. I usually respec for the group I am in.

That's helpful Spitfire. Hmmm. I'll have to check what my half-max lures do, but I thought it was nearly double. Will get back to the thread with that.

Can you distinguish the damage from an ice/fire offhand from the main hand sword? Different numbers?

I duo often with my ranger hubby who has ice quiver, so I lure pierce and cold and we definitely see double effect.

My build is designed for soloing. As much as I like grouping I don't like begging to get into a group.

I did not do a lot of testing with what was the most effective lure amount. Just quick observations every few dragons. It may be that only 15 or 20 points would give the same effect. I think max lures are more effective against bosses and probably overkill for leveling. Ill try to test this some more over the next few weeks.

Humm, i kind of get where yr going but it depends on whether there were enough druids in the first place. If there were insufficient druids, a lv 80 druid alt will be more useful in dat situation regarding of whether yr main be a mage, warrior or ranger etc.

As for the abandon you part.. Thats just cold and nasty on yr clan. I would have givem them a piece of mind if it happens to me.
MorphMarfa has retired from Celtic Heroes and most probably wont be resurfacing. He had a enjoyable time during his druid adventures in Taranis.

Well I understand your point that your mage is a lot higher than your druid. But I see your mage is lvl 110. How much damage do you think that a player 40 lvls below a mob does? It basically comes down to how can you contribute. Low lvl druids can still contribute fairly good with healing, but low lvl mages can almost only contribute with the fire cloak. So lvl your mage and you will be able to contribute greatly to the fight.

In Lugh we have limit for aggra fight on 140 for dps. Support groups have lower requirements - druids from lvl 100 and mages from 130.

That being said I have been able dual Wyrn lords 150 with my mage from lvl 109 and druid 137. Given not a fast kill, but never the less possible.
