Or you could skim through the thread and realize that a dozen 200+ mages said to go fire, while a level 120 who has no idea what he's talking about is "arguing" ice (wouldn't consider it a legit argument anyways cause none of his points are remotely supported)

The first post Seipper made, and his entire argument is actually valid and correct.

He didn't say go ice.

I shouldn't be defending him, you need to use your brain and reread his posts.

Feel free to quote the false information, maybe I missed it.

He said that ice mages are good for short fights, up to 10 seconds if you don't factor in cool down reductions and this is indeed correct. This therefore carries over to 4 or 5* lock fights, and any other mob which takes a short duration to die.

Why wouldn't you factor cooldown reduction items? Every single server has acces to hrung skulls and most of them to necro as well. You even have emberdrake charms for the lower levels. Leaving out those factors is not realistic.

Okay cool, you bumped it down to like 8 seconds assuming everyone has the 30% cool down reduction items. The point still stands, 8 seconds is plenty of time to lock a 5* mob.

Idk about your server, but on lugh for example when the 210 5* spawns you can barely do two hits with fire before it locks. An ice mage would be far too slow to actually do anything.

Point is ice mages cast time are way too slow to actually help with locking a 5*.

We don't have lock fights on edl, hrung or anything, so I guess it all depends.

Well we do have lock fights and this is my experience. Ice is simply just too slow to be effective for locks. Ice is only good for certain mobs due to resists and try to get the highest skill hits.

My point is that ice is not that practical for most situations due of its slow cast time.

pasasquid: I beg to differ with you on your last statement. I am a 223 ice mage and have locked and killed 4, 5 and 6 star bosses (ring bosses, event bosses etc.) Please don't make a general statement saying ice mages are way to slow to help with locking...very insulting and uninformed.
