Fire build? Like fire spells? I'd say Master's Grim.

Haven't checked this out for fire yet (my fire trident is on loan), but

my ice shards hits harder with an ice trident in offhand than with grimoire.
I'm going to borrow a golden blade of ice (+200 cold dmg) just to see what that does.

Well, I just finally save up for and bought my Golden blade o' Fire on my main server. YES I SOLD OUT as I have whined in the past that Mages should be casters not hacker and slashers.

I guess I just don't have enough of the great 140 Radiant armor gear to pull off the "Melee Mage" build. I think that my Fire Bolts, Cloak, and possible Incinerate skills can still out DPS the few tweaks I tried using my new blade. I was using my new Fire Blade without a main hand weapon with a 100 Dex, more Vit, lower Focus, and a 550 H2H ability.

I may revisit this type of build after raising my Hand 2 Hand, but we shall see. It's Master's Grim book for me still it seems.

Tog you should be autoing pretty high with the blade and it takes no skill points! How could it be worse than the grimore ??
And you can keep your focus high if you want. I only lowered focus slightly and increased vit slightly since I wanted to tank while grouping a druid and didn't need the high focus as badly as with a traditional mage. But go ahead and keep focus high if you want max dps.


My vote is golden blade of fire all the way.

You cant argue with an extra 200 damage (lured) every 2 seconds!

You just can't beat it.

Yea. Do you think my 100 Dex was a waste of points? I didn't want to miss too much. And I just don't have all the best Radiant gear for ultra high Dps. I just rebuilt back to a caster fire Mage type, as I have three good Aggra drops for Focus and Fire ability bonuses. But I will try again soon. Not a single high lvl Mage in Suils is rocking the Melee Mage build atm that I know of.

I have this amazing build. Kudos to Dent in Arawn for encouraging me to make a mage. At 151 I have the following:

35/35 Fire Cloak
35/35 Fire Bolt
35/35 Energy Shield
20/35 Fire Lure
30/35 Incinerate

I equip full Radiant Armor set, 2 Godly Wyrm Bracelets, Radiant Willow Ring, Greater Willow Ring, Radiant Birch Ring, 25 Cold Dmg Ring (Haha traded my Aggy 40 Heat a long time ago), Radiant Blackthorn Necklace, Golden Blade of Fire and no main wep using H2H. (Full Frozen set for fashion shows!)

Stats: 5 100 350 345

Lemme tell ya. Holy Crap. This build blows away my Rogue with the exact same armor and he's built for DPS. My warrior...haha not even close. Poor guy. Alas he's relegated to tank duty and is gathering dust between bosses. I am in LOVE with my mage and I'm a warrior at heart. This is perfect for me because I'm a hack and slash kinda guy. I tried the typical mage build using ice and fire and it just didn't work for me. It wasn't powerful enough. I love being fearless in the arena and I wear out Wyverns so fast I don't need any lixes or pots in the cave. I can just hang out and farm wyrm bracelets and enchanted scales at no cost. My mage is a money making machine and a beast pvp and solo char. It makes my heartrate speed up. That's really true. It's that much fun. I highly recommend this build.

Sounds like exactly the build I would like to try. However, most of the clan's Aggra damaging rings and Radient armor etc went to our Rogues, Warriors, and Rangers. I would be fourth in line for them, if they still dropped (Radient). We collect and distribute major drops. It takes some of the excitement out of it though, I do confess. We tried a "rolling for drops" method, but much lower lvl toons were getting the top drops, and our top DPS'ers were not. This could cause us to loose boss fights. Yea it's somewhat less exciting than rolling or keeping what you get, however in a server dominated by war, some compromises must me made.

Long story story, I don't personally have much Rad gear or good damaging gear. Not sure anyone in Sulis could do this build correctly at the moment. I'll have to sick with the blended build, with fire bolt too, if I can figure out how not to run out of energy. Maybe new patch today will include some cool useful gear for me, I don't know.

E-shield 14/20
Lure fire 14/20

Cloak 20/20.

563/ hand to hand ability

I can solo kill 1,2,3 star red eye lvel 81-89 with 1 cast e-shield (3star)
Green eyes 1,2,3 star less tough than red eye with 1 e-shield on 3star

Im eyeing on a fire trident with good stats that adds

I just quit my mage 3 months ago coz it sucks in ow at lvel 80 if solo before the patch..

I try this build with my druid but its kinda hard soloing, or i missed some bright knowledge

Tog.. Keep your caster build but DO use the fire blade as your offhand! You won't be disappointed.
