Ice and fire magic

So I am primarily a rogue but I put a lot of effort into my Mage as well and he's only 205 right now but I hear a lot of things about ice/fire magic. I see mages that will wear a skain charm to keep the aura over a reduction charm Royal and up.
Some mages seem to prefer a weapon that adds to fire/ice magic over a gele wand that adds direct damage. Some mages would also rather keep wearing skain aura over a godly charm from this event.
Personally I think reductions and direct damage are better but I'm not very experienced bossing my Mage just leveling.
Would a 900 firemagic focus ring be better or a Royal silverweb ring of firebolt which I currently have?
I'm very familiar with how attack benefits rogues but I don't notice my hits landing more with 1000 firemagic and it boost firebolt damage by like 70 for 1000 firemagic

Use the fire magic ring. Don't forget the 90 focus would boost all your skills by a fair amount, and the fire magic also helps with firestorm, attune, and lure in addition to the fb to overall make it more useful than the silverweb ring

I actually thought about that and it seemed kinda close to a royal silverweb except no firebolt skill points. Say it overall added the same damage after the firemagic and focus benefits 3 skills then it seems equal in that but falls short because of the loss of 8 skill points.

Id say Recast items > Direct Damage > Elemental damage
Only because elemental caps at a point as it is a parabolic curve so once you have an amount of Elemental adding more will not benefit as much as adding direct damage

Elemental damage? What exactly do you mean. Mage direct damage is also elemental, meaning its not physical, i.e. Pierce/Lure/Crush. All skills points are equal meaning they all get you to 50 skill cap. Are you referring to focus bonus?

Parabolic? Don't use terms you don't understand. Parabolic and square root are not the same.
