Re: help me with the math

In order to save ur time on using Swan's formula (which is accurate), theres the skill/melee dmg calculator which is much easier and uses the same formula I believe.
Thanks for this suggestion. I'll search for it. But in case my search powers are weak, do you have a link?

I always use it when I wanna compare gear, that way I dont need to have the gear in order to compare it.
Thanks!

Wow.... i do understand the mobs have resistances but this is too much.... auto calculator shows i have 1294 auto but i do between 600 and 1000. How is this normal? Such diff in dmg dealt is not cool and needs to be fixed imo
Welcome to ranger life! First, high pierce resistances on seemly ALL mobs. Second, elemental resistances. Third and last, damage Fluctuation.

Fluctuation is a bit tricky here. The game uses a Random Number Generator (RNG) for EVERYTHING. After calculation of resistances, the new top damage for you would be 1000 and lowest 600 [I'm taking your numbers as example]. IIRC the Fluctuation gives us an average of damage of 75% of the highest amount of damage with a deviation of +/-25%. This is, in average you will be hitting most of your autos dealing 800 damage, while the least times will deal 1000 and 600.

Keyword here: average; obviously there would be times where RNG is screwing with us and we deal frequently near the 600 dmg mark.

Try group lvling with a Lure Mage using your elemental lure and lure of assassins. See how high your autos increase a lot.

Hope this helps.

It's been like this since the game came out. It's not going to change. The only way for a ranger to have better autos is with high str, dl armor or earthstone armor, and dmg gear
