Long doesn't root while a mob is bolas'd. Also, bolasing and using long at the same time is highly costly in regards to energy, you will not be able to use it more than a few times. At higher levels, you will find yourself tanking the majority of mobs (except higher lvl bosses ofcourse) and in these cases you will only be able to use long once at the beginning of the fight. It also depends on whether you are using a primarily str or dex build, use sharp if the latter. Personally, i wouldn't use long with either build because there are much more useful skills you could be using, think about dps not a one off mediocre damaging skill. Hope this helps.

I think Wulver stated that this is a glitch so expect a fix in the future.... But for now with enough regens longshot and bolas walking work.

It is a problem with the game engine as other skills that root also do not work with bolas and as such, will not be fixed until the new engine is released. I doubt you are able to spam bolas and long while keeping your energy up unelss you are using pots. It does not work.
