So every offhand suits every class now? Well, why don't I buy a masters grimoire and see how that works out... On Sulis, Ive seen one or two rogues using primal/essence blades, and one of them doesn't play anymore. The rest use axes, dagger of slaying/bounty or the dl rondel.

actually it does work lol. a friend didnt have druid lux since his main was a ranger guess what he did. he got a short bow and equipped his golden quiver for the rejuv and i also did a grimoire from lvls 80-90 since i had lots of dmg but no energy regen so i would spam skills(This was on a warrior btw)

I have read the comments concerning my statement that the "primal/essence blade is not a weapon for a rogue," and have reflected upon the way that I worded the statement. I take back my earlier statement of it not being a "rogue's weapon" but I still think that it is a weak weapon compared to the other offhand available to rogues.

Here are my reasons:

Primal blade stats:
cold damage 100
health regeneration (25)
energy regeneration (20)
focus (40+)
vitality (40+)

Pros:

Regens health and energy (in combat)
stat bonuses (vit and focus)

Cons:

Low damage which is unaffected by strength, i.e, it will not increase with strength
I feel that it adds stats more appropriate for a warrior. This is not to say that a focus and vitality boost aren't good for a rogue, but I personally favour a weapon that adds strength and/or dexterity for my rogue.

I would also like to point out that the lvl 100 lux shop has "better," this is opinionative, offhands.
The dagger of slaying is there if you need regen, and it adds 60 unresisted poison damage, and 25 piercing damage, which multiplies with strength. On my rogue, it would give around 250/300 damage, give or take a little. I think this is much better, as it adds more damage, and still provides regen. It also adds 200 attack.

The axes are excellent. They add 250 elemental damage, unaffected by strength, but 150 higher than that of the primal blade. They also add 120 strength, which also adds damage to your skills and auto, as well as adding 200 attack and 200 resist to the element which it is "attuned" to i.e. fire, ice or magic.

To rephrase what I said earlier, I would say that the primal blade is not an offhand that I would consider, as there are, in my opinion better ones, but which may suit some peoples builds and/or preferences.

I really doubt that it makes up for the loss of straight auto damage. If some rogues can successfully use it with their gear and build, thats great, but that doesn't make it a weapon that is good for the majority. I still do not see how it is better than the dagger of bounty/slaying, nor the axes.

On my rogue I've even considered using an idol of illusion (and a dmg ammy) to skill spam/ melee

That's an interesting notion but i see where you're coming from. Last update i wore an energy crown to keep energy up and it worked nicely.

Yeah I suppose your right, but I did see a guy reach 120 from level 100 in a week using a bodkin
Also I watched MrAppBee's videos in 2011 and I saw smellyunder who is now a famous rogue using it, just wandering what level it would get me to.

To me I don't see the elder blade as an option for rogues, it offers hp regen(useless for the most part), crappy damage, focus and vit...., and the beloved 25 energy regen. Now let's compare to a dagger of bounty, also giving the useless hp regen, 250 attack, high damage with poison, and the same amount of energy regen.

My question is what's pushing you to buy an elder blade over the bounty? You like 80 focus over 200+damage and 250 attack? Lol

vit+foc. + rogues with lower str
having 300 dmg with bounty dagger isnt as much as having 300 dmg with elemental axe, why? since 220 of the dmg is pierce, physical in other words, that highly resisted type of dmg isnt as nice as it seems, unless ofc u got a lure of assassins with u
but 80 poison dmg is really decent, attack is nice, then again i cant say exactly why kiy prefer the blade over other offhands, all ik is that shes prob doing better than most rogues here with bounty dagger, idk how much it matters but kiy has essence blade, i cant say that 1k extra heal is as crap as useless health regen
