The Blue party hat effect

#1
In runescape there is an item known as the blue party hat, this item is a simple little hat that is worth the max amount of gold that you can carry at one time ( which is about 2.2bill gold ) .
The reason it is so much is because they where given away in December of 2001 for a Christmas holiday event. They didn't make the item non tradable because they didnt think about the effects a 1 time item would have down the road.
I'm really tired and want to finish this post so I'm going to sum this up by saying
We should have holiday events with items that only a few players who are playing now will be able to have.. So we stand out if we are playing years later. I know there are more important issues at hand but this is just some food for though.

YAY i cant believe this actually happened! thanks so much for using my idea admin!

Love the idea I never got a blue party hat when I played RS :(
Anyway... For Halloween make a halloween mask or something like that
Btw Srry to go a bit off topic
A banking system should be placed becuase I usually drop useless item to quick travel
But I would not like to drop my holiday item

Hi thanks a lot for posting this.

This is a great idea, and we will plan in various events with unique items going forwards.

Perhaps we can get something in for Haloween I'll make sure to post if we can get this done in time.

Thanks!
yes thank you! I've been waiting on a rare and discontinued item ever since plate armours fell through.

Well it brings joy to me that your considering the idea..I have many more, but holiday events help bring the community together. Perhaps you could have a special quest with a giant fire titan or a giant skull as a boss and could make it to be where darkflame armour drops from the fire Titan or something..

Perhaps you could have a special quest with the grim reaper as a boss and could make it to be where his hood drops or something.. Idk if I think of something good I'll post it
Even death may die

Do we really need to make Celtic Heroes and exact clone of RuneScape?

Discontinued items and holiday events are one thing, but copying entire events like the Halloween event with the Grim Reaper is going a little too far. I've also noticed a lot of ideas posted elsewhere that are ripped right out of RS. Example: mining, crafting, fishing, etc. Seriously, that game is boring and insanely repetitive. Some people might like to spend literally thousands of hours swinging a pixel hatchet to get 99 Woodcutting and so on, but how about we leave them to play RS and let CH grow into something different and a lot more fun.

I'm not trying to bash anyone or start an argument, I just think we can do better than playing a knock-off RS app. Don't get me wrong, rare and discontinued items are fine (e.g. pre-update 1 plate armor), but I would much rather see CH become something unique and interesting than for it to become an off-brand portable version of a boring game.

Druids were pretty important in Celtic times, maybe we could see some events based on their world like the Ritual of Oak and Mistletoe.

Vapor im going to have to disagree i think the events will enhance the game, and give people something to look forward to during holidays, more then just doing repeatable quests and killing monsters. Also, for the mining, crafting, farming etc.. I also, believe it will make the game more fun because then people would be able to earn money much quicker and get better armour which will make more people join because they wont be at a disadvantage all the time and have to level from 1-70 before getting decent armour. Also, then people could also have something to do while occupying there time, other then doing repeatable quests and killing monsters

I guess you skipped that part.

Events are fine, I would just rather see events that are unique to CH. I also agree that having other activities like making armor are great and that we need other things to do besides level and quest.

The basic concern I have with RS style skills (such as mining, fishing, crafting, and etc.) is that if these are duplicated here then the game could become just another big grindfest that requires zero talent and has people mindlessly repeating the same task ad nauseam. Also, take a look at the RS forums. For years players have been frustrated that at least 50% or more of their community are bots (automated programs) because grinding away at skill levels is tedious and enormously time consuming. I think that says a lot about how 'skilling' is so boring that people actually make programs to do it for them.

My point is that as a community I'm sure we can come up with some good ideas without simply mirroring RS. There's bound to be some ideas for fun activities that would set CH apart from the herd. There's a topic or two buried in the forums somewhere where people posted all sorts of interesting and different activities. I'll try to dig it up and post a link here later.
