Re: Class balance needs addressing now

I think I have a simple fix for the developers that would go a long way toward leveling.

I use mages as the example because that is what I am running.

The designers have decided that mages are not gong to be doing large damage hand to hand. Ok but can we use our significant wand talents to be defensive. Change the attack algorithm so that a successfully wand hit will first block the attack and only do damage if there is not an attack to block. Being small with a high speed we should still be able to get a hit in occasionally but would spend most of our time staying alive while our spells recharge. I have a text on gaming algorithms that explains that a taking a blocking posture mean not only does the attacker have to get past your defenses. They must also get past your attack on their weapon. The so the mechanics work out that the attacker has to make two attack "rolls", one vs your defensive numbers like always and also one vs your offensive numbers. ( btw a successful block means you get the advantage to hit first next phase if you choose to take it.)

That big sword only hirts if it can hit you.

I think you talking about parrying. Just a fair adjustment...

Subtract the wand damage from the damage of the opponent instead.

However, mages are supposedly DPSers, so this isnt a great idea from my POV.

DEXTERITY solves this. I have 170 dexterity on my mage.

Its time for some outside the box thinking.

The discussions point out how warriors are getting a little materialistic and everybody else is jealous of their stuff. OK, lets have some fun with that. Create new creatures to offset the materialism.

The Humiliator. With a natural proximity area affect that causes all your stuff to not work and you have to attack without any gear.
The Destroyer. Has the ability to permanently destroy equipment.
Street Rats. Very high Dex pick pockets with the ability to steal your stuff. It would be fun to see a 90th level warrior running from a group of 1st level street urchins for fear that they might steal his ice king hammer of the gods thingy.
The Jester who wanders around the Boss areas casting his practical joke spell so mid fight you find yourself naked for 30 seconds.

Consider the law of unintended consequences. Changing one thing causes ripples that will mess other things up. Instead of changing the whole world, throw a turd in the punch bowl and see what people do. Please don't be too hasty to make any changes propose (even mine).

So as long as i can get my item that was stolen, back from the mice or whatever then im cool with it. But the destroyer hell no....Unless you mean permenatly destroys till the end of the battle cause i dont want to need to get my metoric armor again.
