I'm not saying I don't see the benefit. All I'm saying is for me I don't feel my mount is obsolete and probably those that have caster toons might also feel that way. It's all subjective. I just know when those yellow yule wings came out I thought they were the coolest looking things in the game at that point so I dropped $100 on plat to sell chests to buy them. I don't find it advantageous enough game wise to justify the money and/or time spent trying to get a battle mount.
Now do I find it insulting that otm will take the time to make one mount equippable with weapons but previous mounts not? Yes. So I choose not to financially support the game by buying plat. Sadly though the game has been that way for awhile- nothing worth buying so I've been sitting on plat since double plat black Friday 2015
Re: New pets/mounts
#12Every iteration of mounts has brought us something different. I loved my my purple 2014 Yuletide wings. Used them way past when there were better mounts. Mounts that are cool looking, mounts with regen, mounts with speed and mounts with invisability. Some I adopted quickly, some slowly. Most mounts decline in value over time, solely because something cooler has come along. Some have skyrocketed in price. So here we are.
Long ago I predicted that the future would bring us battle mounts because sooner or later we would run out of other improvements. I now predict that there will be more mounts that are class specific. The new mounts will be great for new players who can have their player and mounts grow together. In beta I started a new toon, had no problems with the low 19% speed boost, and did not die once while on it. I never had to use a whistle. I will keep old mounts while I build the new mounts for battle. I'll move forward slowly and causesly, which is same as for the new pets. Speaking of pets, do you still have a bird or two in the bank, lol?
Complain if that's your thing, but for me I'm going to enjoy them immensely!
