Well its always about killing the right enemies. For you... lets see.

Lvl 35-40 I would work on finding a good area with a bunch of lvl 40 ish mobs in shalemont.

When you get to lvl 40, your going to want to keep killing ribbionswords over and over till you get to 51. Your going to end up with hundreds of ribbons lol.

At 51 kill defenders and ironclads and adepts at shalemont river till 55 ish.

Then head up those stairs and kill the chonnact up there untill lvl 60.

Then go to stonevale and kill stuff at the southern road untill lvl 63.

Then go back to the farm and head towards the big field in the middle of stonevale and kill stuff there till lvl 73 ish.

Hope that gets you started.

Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

Copy this sig! :)

This is all from the solo view. Group. Make a support Mage and group. It is fast. The support Mage allows the group to kil 3-5 mons at once. Without it they are more or less limited to one mob at a time. The group should be able to fight things 10-20 levels higher up to at least 4*, rather than 1-3* of the same level. This and the group bonus changes the exp profile.

Maybe you can't do that. Maybe you do not want to do that... but that is the easiest, fastest way, and mages are about the most useful class for group leveling. There are an array of other options for solo play, ranging from a melee Mage to. freeze Mage, but grouping is faster.

I'm still fairly new to this game, so apologies for my ignorance, but with melee mage, don't you still need to be high level, and buy/find all the best equipment to make it work? I can’t see how you can make an Ice mage, isn’t there only 3 spells for this – lure ice, freeze (which is rubbish) and ice shards (which has very slow cool down). And for effective grouping to work, don’t you need the lure spells that are somewhere in OW? Therefore, none of these options are particularly viable for a low level mage. The only useful group support spell for lower level mages is cloak of fire, until they find the other lures somewhere in OW.

My mage is nearing the Level 80 range, and I do a mixture of solo and group levelling. Yes I would prefer to group level all the time, but it isn’t always possible for various reasons. Mage’s damage is so poor compared to other classes at later levels, making solo levelling incredibly tedious, and quite frankly shameful.

To try and speed up levelling, and to try to compete with other classes, my mage is practically made from platinum.

Good luck!

At 80 all you need is max cloak and maybe 10 points of Fire Lure and you dont even really need the Lure. Then you can spec Firebolt or whatever to taste. If you really want to do this, then you want a full health tank and healing Druid, though is is possible with other combos. If you can find that mix you can fight mobs much higher than you since the cloak does not work like other level dependent dps. You asked for the fastest and this is the fastest. All opotions have challenges.

The Freeze build uses those three spells, including the rubbish Freeze. It has been written up in the Mage forums. It can also use the Ice energy managment spells, Boost in particular. It is primarily a solo build however, and slow per fight, but can work over time. It is my belief that Freeze is intended to help manage long cool down times of a shards and Eshield, which is also an Ice spell. It is particularly useful if you have no sigils and want to solo.

For a Melee Mage, yes you need some high level gear, though the mid level versions of the dragon gear also works at mid levels, if you are interested.
