+1 im just like Tog.

But.... Tog, you think we should try dropping 200 focus, putting it into vit, and try adding another damage skill to replace e-shield?

200 focus only add really 50 damage per tick of each spell, a whole new skill probably adds more.

It may work... Eshield takes as much energy to cast as if we had 200 less focus anyway.

Well, I've developed a fairly usable build and fighting style with very little HP, compared to old builds I've had. And I'm liking it just fine. I just scored a 300k book for focus and a bracelet for energy regen.

I'm personally not gonna drop my focus by much. And E-shield is great if one can pull off two of them for a fight (one just prior to battle).

Well, I rely heavily on E-shield. Even in group, if I see our tank about to drop, I throw it up to survive as the Baddie lays waste to our party. I can sometimes survive to the tank to re-Taunt.

I also can take out some PH's with it, and avoid area of effect skills from some Gollems. I just am trying to level more, putting more and more points into the Slash Lure for our Warrior's to use their cool Blue toys with. I like having very little Vitality, so my Focus can be very high for extra damage.

Hi- can I ask why people are maxing e-shield? I have tried that and recognize that it is an amazing skill, but it seems mostly only useful for soloing (and pvp) to me so far... My Mage is about lvl 80. I don't currently use it because:
- it takes points away from dps, since it is a defensive skill
- it uses a massive amount of energy

If I am working to max damage what is your reasoning for e-shield? Is it because you are making pvp builds? Is it for survival when you draw aggro/adds in a group or boss fight? Is it primarily for soloing?

I think it is one of the best skills in the game really, but so far survivability of my Mage when teamed with a Druid has not been an issue, so even though it is very tempting I do not currently put any points into it at all. I keep Abundance and Bark on the Mage all the time. Abundance effectively doubles the Mages health and lasts a long time.

I do have a few points in Vitality, which I realize also reduces dps. I suppose one argument would be to take points out of Vit, put them into focus and then use eshield for health. I don't remember... How much damage does a maxed e-shield absorb? To really run e-shield at this level I would end up taking points out of an attack. Do you think the focus based dmg increases would make up for that shift of skill points and moving a few points from vit to focus? I currently have just under 300 focus I think.

Thanks in advance for advice.
I'll tell you our reason for maxing eshield . It's because we don't have a druid following us keeping abundance and bark on us 24/7 lol.

Also it prevents casting from bueng interrupted.

Mabye it would work dropping 150 focus and putting it into vit and dropping 15 points from eshield and putting it ino damage spells. It needs to be looked into dps wise, whether the dps lost from the focus is made up by the skill points.

Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

My apologies for resurrecting a dormant post, but I thought a new post foolish.

My question regarding the two skills is as follows:
If both skills are of equal level and both respective lures are also of equal level, which of the two skills will cause the most damage over a given amount of time?
I would try to test myself but I do not have a book of alt and currently my build does not have any points in ice shards.
