Was just about to ask this same question.

I just got Incinerate last night and was playing with it and liking it. I Assumed Incin is better than Firestorm (both at L1 so can't really tell potential) and asked clan and was surprised all mages there thought FireStorm > Incin. I even asked if the answer was the same for soloing/one-on-one fights and their answer was the same.

considering that longcool is the 2nd highest mage on our world, i think she is doing alright

i am often surprised how useful different kinds of builds can be. Mages have so many choices of ways to do things - makes it exciting.
