Re: OTM camo charm scandal

Ya OTM has made some fixes to the aggro ranges. It is hard to know now how it compares to pre-update when the charms were available.

It comes down to an issue of principle. What do you do when you don't really like the way the game is going and want to change it? (In this case aggro ranges) Do you just discontinue the offending item (camo charm) and not let future generations buy it but the older players can keep theirs? This is what happened.

What this has been shown to do is strengthen a 2 class system. The elite and the non-elite. The elite get to play a different game than the non-elite.

Sure some items can stay in like this but for a game-changing thing like a camo charm, I think a different approach should have been taken.

Options I would have had on the table in hindsight before the update was released:

1. Lets remove from the game all the camo charms and give each player that has one 10% more than the original value for the inconvienience.
2. Lets just keep the camo charms in the shop
3. Lets give players a warning that we are both going to tweak the aggro range and discontinue the camo charms before the update
4.Lets tweak the camo charms and give players that have one a 50% refund for the inconvienience or let them return to support for their full purchase price plus 10% for the inconvienence.

ect.
I can probably count who in my world bought a camo charm before admin announced they were going away. There is one person who spent 100k on it because he wanted to stand next to Rockbelly.
That's it. No one bought wasted gold on camo charms because they weren't needed anywhere.

They did exactly as your #3 option.

Admin announced that Otherworld will be designed in a way that players have to "fight through" mobs to get to a certain point, sort of like a gauntlet-type challenge. That is the reason why you see 2 long narrow paths in Otherworld to get to Aggragoth and to Chained King. The developers didn't want players to rush to bosses without any obstacles. Good idea, bad implementation and a total failure.

Starting only a month and a half ago I thought I would never get one. You know what I did tho. Saved my gold. Made some friends along the way that were older players on the server that helped me aquire one. So if they were to refund the gold for them I would be out 12times what they re worth in store. All because you are to lazy to farm the gold for one. You can still buy them so maybe try to not be so sour to people and they will help you find one to purchase.

Not to sure on how true the rumors are on this but I heard that there will be a camo item in the near future available in the lux shop that has camo on it. Not a charm but a item. So maybe give it some time. I know admin listens to players and it's clear we want some camo.

Will say after purchasing mine I wasn't to upset to hear a camo item that isn't a charm will be coming back. If it is true I can't wait. Gonna be nice to get some camo for future alts without breaking the bank.

Even the path to Aggragoth was nerfed. There used to be 7-8 level 140 wyverns there with Spit Fire. Now there's only 3 level 137-139 golems.
I miss the the old path to Aggragoth :( Before it was exciting with all those huge beasts flapping their wings. Even with a camo charm, you had to be frightened just looking at all of them. You knew that something big and epic had to be hidden in that cave when it was so heavily guarded.

now it's like.. meh. Two or three golems that I can run circles around with a camo and a carpet. With so little mobs there, it's not even a viable spot to level up, let alone guard the cave. I would love to see this space used better.

Getting back on topic though, the aggro change is fine. But I wish OTM would have put it in the patch notes. It was a major change that affected everyone, yet the only thing that made it into those patch notes were mage ability fixes (and a few other things that I'm forgetting). I think the change wouldn't have been so jarring to everyone if it would have been clearly communicated instead of us having to find out for ourselves.

What I think is the "scandal" is INCREASING the agro range even after everyone is already complaining about the problems with it.
Was this to "dumb down the camo's usage, because all it did was make the non camo wearers job harder than before.

I initially bought camo charm because my friend and i wanted to 2 man rockbelly ( me ranger and him mage with tons sigils).

With guards messing u up it was impossible. After i used it i encouraged all my friends to buy one on taranis. Then they went away.

Camo was extrememly useful before all this , just few people were aware of it. It was more valuable prior to changes for being able to solo pull any mob in the game wo any friendly aggro.

So, in this hypothetical land where this was true, why do they still sell invisibility potions if the intent of removing the camo charm was to make people ''fight through''?
