Gold sinks prevent hyperinflation, without a gold sink the economy gets inflated and gold becomes worthless. In real life its done by the central bank managing interest rates, taxes, and by decommissioning old notes/coins in the game its through spending gold on non-refundable items/perks.
As such it's essential for the game to have more gold sinks as we are almost at the point where gold is worthless, nowadays if I want to buy a cool item or fashion gold is rarely the used currency because theres so much of it and so little to buy, usually fashion/lux/rares/gear/lix are exchanged instead. Back in the day gold was not worthless as there was a lot to buy with regular events bringing new mounts and lux which sunk gold, and also not as much gold in the economy.
Re: Bug or design?
#22Are you dense? Just because I pointed out the trading, never did I say that it took gold out of the economy. You're just assuming [censored] smh. I spend my gold, and i don't want it to become even harder to save up gold because assholes like you think nobody spends their gold when they do on my server. You literally made so many assumptions in your thread its hilarious actually. Learn to argue. You dont know how they would implement it. I'm so strongly resisting this because if otm was still in office we would all be [censored] and they would introduce some game breaking gold sink or something knowing them, in hope of more plat sales. Like I said, I'm gonna assume VR is exactly the same as OTM was, so of course I'm gonna fight against this. Fingal does not have a [censored] inflation problem and its really pissing me off how people who don't even play the server think they know more than i do about it. Maybe your server does, but not mine, so piss off with the suggestions that could ruin economies, cause I actually like my server and the way it is, and id rather not VR introduce something that's nothing but negative, sorry VR but you guys dont have the player base for unfathomable like this. Games that have either didn't last or were way bigger than CH. It's constantly said how proud they are of how far ch has come and how it's survived 7 years, well this is exactly the type of change that could be what kills it. You're playing Russian Roulette. Those games had thousands of new players per day, does ch? Highly doubt it. So where is this gold coming from VR? Ohh from the players who are working their asses off farming and bossing, which btw doesn't give that much, unless you're busting your ass, and probably not even enjoying yourself while you're literally playing a game. Like I already said, you guys (VR) know nothing about our economies and you guys are making the worst impression possible. I would love to see you guys active on more threads than just bs. I literally dont understand why anyone would ask for some thing that would make it harder to get gold. It's already hard enough without playing 8 hours a day, don't make it harder smh, that'll definitely make a lot of players quit. You obviously dont realize how much people buy shop lux and items otherwise you wouldn't be arguing so much. Where is this gold problem? If you could find 100 players with nothing to spend it on then I'll agree with you on the gold sink, if you cant, then stfu, theres a lot of servers, and a lot of players that you're discussing, and you dont even know the economies of any server but your own, so how about lets introduce a gold sink exclusive to your server? Because fingal does not need it, and it would hurt fingal. Not every server has been around since 2011 so why not try being considerate for a change smhSeems like everyone against gold sink doesn’t realize trading doesn’t take gold out of the market or understand basic economics at all. People that don’t buy plat already spend their gold on lixes and stuff, implementing a lix or consumable shop for gold wouldn’t change their consumption whatsoever. AHHHHH GOLD SINK DONT MAKE ME SPEND MY HARD EARNED GOLD. If a system was implemented it would be optional, y’all can still spend your gold however you choose.

#23Ignorance is bliss. If you are "spending" the gold at shops you are already throwing it into a gold sink. The rate of obtaining gold from non-trading methods is already pretty good, just because people think bosses dont drop enough doesn't mean other stuff doesnt. Or, you know, stop throwing gold away. How they implement it means nothing, its good no matter what. It's not going to make the game any harder, only easier actually if good gold gear is added. And as stated again, this is not some plat sink scheme like you think it is. Inflation is present in any economy, but theres regions where its bad, and in a virtual economy with no proper gold loss and only gold gain its bad/gonna get bad. And as other people have pointed out too, YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY THE ITEMS. The option of doing so is better then no option at all, and hell if they buy them you only get richer, no reason for you to object. Are you dense? Just because I pointed out the trading, never did I say that it took gold out of the economy. You're just assuming **** smh. You literally made so many assumptions in your thread its hilarious actually. Learn to argue. You dont know how they would implement it. I'm so strongly resisting this because if otm was still in office we would all be messed and they would introduce some game breaking gold sink or something knowing them, in hope of more plat sales. I also love how you point out fingal this, fingal that. The world does not revolve around your server. And even though android servers are newer, with all the increases in ways of obtaining gold, I wouldnt be suprised if they had as much gold as ios servers. Anyway, I question if you really know how an economy works. Downplaying inflation is a huge red flag, as it can change a world drastically if there is too much. But where is your observation of this coming from? Well, I can tell you that I actually know how my economy works. I am part of my economy, yes, but I RUN my economy. Not many other people can say that, and it gives me a weather control machine to test out different things economic in nature. And I have ran into altering inflation quite a few times, and the effect is tremendous. This includes my latest sacrifice of fixing inflation on lugh, which wasnt easy to singlehandedly do, and it shouldnt fall on the players to do it because no one else would dare to try. And for your assumption of there not being too much gold, heres a nice picture.

#24Woah calm down. Having opposing opinions is good but please refrain from make things personal and overboarding on profanity.
Re: Bug or design?
#25I love how passionate about the game people are! Honestly in my opinion I was hoping a change would be made to at least be able to sell back to merchant for half. It's not gonna ruin the game for me either way. Good points were made tho.
Re: Bug or design?
#26Another guy just making assumptions of what I think or know smh... lol geez y'all know more about me than i do about myself. I just forgot that I took 2 years of economy class, few years ago, am always up to date with investing, and I'm literally in school for finances lol, but i dont know about economy...? That picture proves nothing to me, because from what I've heard, you've been camping castle for years merching, and that's where you are different than the casual person. If you dont know how to merch, then you aren't gonna do it. I can't do it, so i dont, it's not so simple for everyone, like it is you. Trading and making gold isn't cake like you think it is. Now I wouldn't be opposed to them opening shops for more gear, and fashion shops again. If they want a good gold sink, that wouldn't break the game, and i think everyone would like, would to be to bring back fashion and mount shops along with seasonal lux again.Ignorance is bliss.
