After 1k str your gonna get like 10 dmg per 100 str added. Reduced from a boss dmg its like 3 per hit. And for a class where they have no added benefit of gaining skill dmg thru str imo not worth it. Dex he is still modding attack and his sharpen and steady which again increase his dmg and attack. As a ranger i would not add more unless he made certain sacrifices in gear to gain that attack.

10 damage 100 str? Hell no.

If RunAndSteal converted his 700 points in dex into str he would get about 200 damage. I include sharpen wep and steady aim in this. I don't really feel like taking the time to figure out how much attack he would lose because there are a lot of things that change his attack including lixes, steady aim, and amount of dex.

I do see how effective a spear build can be. I grabbed a dark str spear that no one else in my clan wanted, and leveled my ability up. It's only at about 1700, but it and a conquest axe offers more damage than a bow and quiver, even though it's just a dark spear. However, the other thing to factor in here is divine damage. Dl set gives 150, and that's all the divine damage you get with spear build as ranger. However, with bow and quiver, you get 300, plus skill- which adds 600 divine damage for a time. You can have the quiver skill active for about 1/3 of the reload time, so you can brutally simplify the skill to an aproximate 200 extra divine damage with bow and quiver, making the total count 500 divine damage. So that's a difference of 350 divine damage, which acts even better than poison damage to raid bosses, that you get with a bow/quiver than spear.
So if you are really focusing on doing the most damage possible to a boss, it's probably best to make sure that your hits deal plenty of damage, than (if your lucky) hitting an extra 10% of the time for 1/2-1/3 of the damage that your dl-offhand-wielding clan members do.
