Re: GalebronionMAN clan kills?! (o.O) (FAQ)

The reason I prefer the bid system is I get to determine how much an item is worth to me, not the gens assigning some arbitrary value to gear.
Although older players can amass a massive wealth of DKP which could make a bid system unfair it is easy to fix this by making players need to be active for a time t after they return before they can bid again to prove that they are actually back and not just visiting. Also if the DKP per boss is high enough it's easy to catch up. Only 2 or 4 people in my clan have what I would call an invincible ammount of dkp and the only reason they have kept their massive lead is because they are still active and at almost every eg boss.

Both systems have their advantages based off how you want to play. I prefer the bid system as I can decide how much I want to spend on gear instead of it being predecidrd and the natural flow and change of the market decides prices so they r changing gradually and naturally instead of sudden changes when leaders decided a chance is needed

I get what you're saying, and I agree that bidding is better than dice rolls. I only reacted as such is because you kept using bidding and "fair" in the same sentence.
Bidding is convenient, it empowers the members to decide when an item is worth X amounts of points. I also understand that after a dozen of Gelebron axe drops that a clan gets, the 12th axe isn't as valuable as the 1st one.

But if the purpose of a point system is to be fair, then bidding doesn't make it so. It's more like a monetary system. Players use their points like cash, to buy goods in ebay, not in a store with fixed prices.
Many folks prefer to buy stuff on ebay because they can save money or one-up somebody else. There's nothing wrong with it. I just wouldn't describe ebay as "fair", especially after you buy something for $200, and then on another auction, somebody else won it for $10.

Seems we have come to an agreement then :) somewhat anyways. I agree bidding is no where near perfect (no system really is) but I agree that it is monetary lol. What's nice about multiple servers is that there can be multiple clans with different ways to distribute drops so players can pick a server that distributes in a way they like.

What's ironic is that the OP is about distributing Doch Gul, and while I talked at length about dkp systems and how we distribute raid drops, when it comes to DG, we only use it as a guide. We actually use Loot Council method for DL/EDL/DG, and using our dkp system to pick the 2-3 candidates and then evaluate clan needs and then decide who receives the next one.

Lol forgot that was the main point of the thread. Ya we use a similar method except that we distribute by piece usually instead of by set.

I appreciate the lively and civil discussion. This system was completely unknown to me, I do not know of any clan on Donn which utilizes anything like it. In every clan I have participated in, loot distribution is a mixture of rolling, and the generals deciding if someone else should really have a very useful piece of gear. Maybe the differences between android and apple servers are the cause for the difference in distribution systems. In my experience on android, there usually aren't more than 2-3 folks at most who need any piece of gear, with those present getting precedence.

Of course, I have never participated in any bosses higher than DL.

On fingal we use a points system of dkp and akp. Each boss is worth x amount of points of dkp or akp and you attend that boss you get those points. Then when items drop off the boss, each item has a minimum bid number and if more than one person wants it then it's who bids the most points gets it. The more active of a bosser you are the more points you can accumulate and have more points to bid on higher tier items.

OK sorry for off topic post but just wanted to respond to the comment that android doesn't use a dkp system.

I should have been more clear that it was just my personal experience on Donn. I did not intend to indict all of android.

Each server has a different system. It's nice that way so that you can play how you want to and have options. If there was just one giant server we wouldn't have such diversity. What some see as a problem I see as a chance for players to be creative and explore many different playing styles.
