Yes in Mabon the top clan WolfGang camps the end game soider like crazy. You would have 50 people in the area at times just for the event boss because every single member in that clan has time to log on unlike a short spawn time which is 10 minutes or so. Likewise the small clan can't get the jump on the big clan with a short window and get the lock when it suddenly spawns.
That is a perfecr example as to why the long windows are even more disadvantageous to smaller clans. large dominant clans can have several members that can rotate many members every 3 hours on all spawn points the whole weekend. Smaller clans cant do that at all, so i dont really buy Muldar's excuse that this was all done for the benefit of the smaller clans.

I think that is why it was introduced. This same reasoning is the same Wulver gave us when he was still here, and the same reasoning we've always recieved from OTM.
So the spawn windows originally in *U3* may have been introduced/spread throughout the game to give small clans a chance. I think there is truth to this.
(my memory here is a bit shaky. When were the large windows actually made a big part of the game? I think the first time we saw them was with ythair no?)

However, I think the windows were kept, and actually made a larger part of the game through events/updates, because of the side effects. Even though there has always been continued opposition from players, large spawn windows only became a larger and larger part of the game, especially through events. Thankfully this year we have seen a great reduction through quest boss timers and proteus timer, but large spawn windows are still there for the bosses that drop a lot of the loot players want (events, necro, mord...).
I think the real reason for this is, as you may easily gather from this thread, they do an excellent job at substituting actual content for keeping players in the game. Why work so hard to develop good content when you can change a few ints and get nearly the same amount of players online, and spending plat.

They stunt the progression of large clans, but also inadvertently stunt the growth of smaller clans too. Small clans do get kills once in a while but crap drop rates prevents them from building powerful lock groups to win vs larger clans.

I understand OTMs hesitation in making changes, because theyre still making money so why do anything, but I dont know why they cant bet on themselves being able to make a more engaging and enjoyable game instead of making a game like this with players that bond through misery.

"I don't think people realize how long windows helps we know top clans will camp but so can small clans, so that's not the reason it is getting people on at that time instead of knowing you need to be there at let's say 3-3:10 you have to be at the ready for three hours to log, so maybe a smaller clan gets lucky and can get people to log faster."

Is essentially the reasoning behind longer spawn windows, you are welcome to dislike this and provide constructive feedback on alternate options but please remember to do so in the appropriate boards.

Servers will be restarting at 12 noon (announcement post to follow)

To those who have posted in appreciation of the mini event, we thank you for doing so.
Likewise, the feedback others have posted has been greatly appreciated and is being reviewed by the team.

As the event is now over I am locking the thread, thanks.
