If anyone has a lot of trouble sleeping, I can help

Though I am on the forums and game so much and have rl responsibility it may seem that I never sleep, but I have gotten much better that I used to be.

I used to be able to only get 4 hrs a night.

I never had trouble fallin asleep, but I would always wake up after 4 hours on the dot and not be able to get back to sleep.

Now I sleep 5-6 hours before waking up, and can easily fall back asleep after getting a drink and using the restroom.

If anyone had a similar problem to me I can help you work through it and improve. Let me know either on this post or via PM if that is more comfortable for you.

There is little more important to your health than getting enough sleep, not just a saying but I know from experience.

So I basically just tried a bunch of stuff.

Things that really help:

passionflower extract: take this after you wake up to help you fall back asleep.

NAC: n-acetylcystine supplement, can get online or supplement stores. Took 1-2 capsules before bed of this and it helped as much as perscription xanax for sleep for me with way less side effects.

ALA: took one or two capsules before bed with NAC.

Earplugs: even if it isn't noisy they help me to feel more secure.

Ibprofen or tylenol

Benadryl

xanax: perscription only as last resort.

Brushing and flossing: Probably the most important thing for sleep. The bacteria in your gums cause inflamation which wakes you up.

Food grade Diatomaceous earth: I heaping tbsp a day mixed in juice preferably to cover the taste. (start with a half tbsp and work up.) this kills bacteria and other stuff in the digestive tract so you may get a sorta toxic reaction when you start with a headache from the bacteria dieoff. But drink plenty of water and it doesn't last long. Also this toxic effect from the endotoxins in bacteria actually stimulates the innate immune system so it isn't bad for you.

Things that don't really help me:

melatonin: helps a little

excercise: helps a little

So basically I took the NAC and ALA for a couple months and was getting much better sleep staying asleep longer and bieng able to fall back asleep. I started brushing and flossing before bed everynight as well.

Also something to look into is parasites. They cause a histamine reaction which makes it hard to sleep (allergy) which can be helped by something like benydryl. So I had also been treating myself for parasites like pinworm and ascaris. Garlic supplements are good against pinworm and diatomaceous earth against ascaris.

Also see if sexual activity makes it harder to sleep. Some people it relaxes them, while some it makes it harder to sleep.
