So I just started a Rogue and was curious about the most beneficial stat: dexterity or strength?! I've seen a lot of people talking about both so I tried out a couple tests early on in the game, at both level 3 and level 5.
For the first Rogue, I went all-out strength, which resulted in the following stats:
(Note that I'll be putting the level three stats followed by a slash and then the level 5 stats to save time)
(Level-----3/5)
Strength-15/25
Dexterity-5/5
Focus-5/5
Vitality-10/10
Attack-5/5
Defence-10/10
Damage-12/14
Armour-9/9
Damage to level 3 monsters-6,7,8, but primarily 7
Damage to level 3 monsters at level 5- 9, 10, 12, with the primary damage output being 10, and a fair number of 12's too.
Alright, so, looking at those number the only thing adding str did was increase damage, no other stats were affected!
Now looking at dexterity only:
(Level-----3/5)
Strength-5/5
Dexterity-15/25
Focus-5/5
Vitality-10/10
Attack-15/25
Defence-30/50
Damage-11/13
Armour-9/9
Damage to level 3 monsters-6,7,8, 9, with the numbers being pretty consistent between 7, 8, and 9
Damage to level 3 monsters at level 5- 8, 10, 11, with the primary damage output being 10, and a decent number of 11's.
Well, look what we have here! Dexterity greatly increased attack, greatly increased the defence, and brought the damage to only one point below the damage of pure strength.
Plus, the damage output is almost similar, with pure strength just a little ahead, but that's debatable.
So, in conclusion, dexterity seems far and away the better stat to upgrade. While these are just small tests that can't 100% prove anything, it still something to think about for all the rogue players.
I'll try some higher level testing later, but in the meantime I'm gonna go straight to work on Ranger testing now...
Re: Just finished up some Rogue stat testing...
#2Hmm the numbers are close, it might be due to your low level. They might be different at higher levels.
Re: Just finished up some Rogue stat testing...
#3dex does seem to work at higher levels.
I'm a High Dex Rogue and seem to hit pretty hard. I even seem to do equal or greater damage to rogues at higher levels than me. I may buy a few books and do some testing myself at high level. if i do i will post results here.

Re: Just finished up some Rogue stat testing...
#4Cool tests Im putting more into Dexterity now. Anyway I wanna bump this but talk about Dps at the same time. I was able to get Argo from a level 75 Warrior with full Ancient, Silver speed gloves, gold offhand falchien and ancient falchian in 9 seconds! That's probably a bad thing since if I get Argo on Stonevale bosses I die... But it's fun to anyway! Hopefully with full Darkflame and a golden offhand il be able to in 5? That would be cool. Besides the dying part. I have ancient with gold speed gloves and a cruel sgian dbuh when this took place.

Re: Just finished up some Rogue stat testing...
#5It is surprisingly good for taking aggro, i only have 60 dex, but i have 138 strength. I do about 120 every hit, quick does 300 on caviler's and the most my sneak attk has ever done is nine hundred and something.
I love my rogue, unfortunately it is not the best class for boss fights, and i sold all his armor.

Good job celtic heroes!
Re: Just finished up some Rogue stat testing...
#6in boss fights I'm the damage dealer. with a good tank that uses taunt to take agro back. I can stay alive and continue to bring down the boss HP. I have just enough Vitality to survive a normal boss hit. Then someone heals me. so I can smack the Boss again.

Re: Just finished up some Rogue stat testing...
#8My 75 rogue currently has arOund 325 str and only 45 vit, 5 dex, and 40 focus...(close anyway).
Regarding affects of dex on your stats - it gives no dmg boost whatsoever. The only thing dex adds is "defense - chance for mob to hit you decreases AND gives you 1 "attack" which is your chance to hit mob.
Im not sure why they call this stat "attack" or why The decs make you think its important.
Also - wpn damage is multiplied by you STR factor so the higher ure wpn dmg the more beneficial str becomes. I.e. My warr has 100 dmg 2 h and each point in str now adds 1 dmg.
I have to call idiot for whoever made dex not effect dmg whatsoever, as i have 5 dex and skills never miss. My quickstrike is dealing 250+ dmg with normal swings on unicorns up to around 200 ( swinging at 1900 speed).
I have done stat testing probably more then anyone else in this game (5 chars and around 100 respecs if i had to guess, and i learned one thing: current stats effectiveness is absolutely ridiculous.
With my druid and her sigils i do not need any of my stat points besides 25 or sofocus and enough hp not to die. I just put them in vit because theres no reason not too......how wrong does that sound?

Re: Just finished up some Rogue stat testing...
#9My rogue stats: Str 30, Dex 130, Vit 110 and Focus 70. My damage is 146. Is that considered low? My attack is 760 and def is 270. Sometimes, I wonder whether I should have allotted more points to Str. I noted 5 points of Str only increased damage by 1.
Re: Just finished up some Rogue stat testing...
#10Are you sure? I noticed that it gave alternatively 2 or 3 damage (5 pts = 2, 10 pts = 5, 15 pts = 7 and so on..), but I guess it depends on the weapon you use.I noted 5 points of Str only increased damage by 1.
