Is there something special I need to do to be able get a relic from fishing? Do you need to say "Rumplestilskin" backwards when casting? After 8 hours of nothing I'm thinking that there are a lot of things more likely than fishing up a relic. Some examples are:

An atheist becoming the Catholic Pope
Getting hit in the head with a meteorite while turning in a jackpot winning Powerball ticket.
Being attacked by a shark while being struck by lightning.
Dying from a bee sting while falling into the Grand Canyon.

And the list goes on, and on, and on ...

Any tips would be appreciated. I mean even in real life I've fished up a fishing pole.

Several players have said in these forums that certain fishing spots create a high likelihood of getting relics. Those players did not deign to share which spots those were. I'd look for who is sellingnew relics in auction regularly and try to stalk them in game.

Well, well, well... would you look at that! I just found an aged urn by fishing in either level 64 or 65 wise waters in Shalemont.

Edit: Just got an aged effigy from level 68 rippling waters in Shalemont.

So from my experience (lvl 110 fishing, I have the tier 1 bear, 1 aged tablet from tier 2) you can expect to find one in every 2-3 hours of rapid fishing (by this I mean you are high enough level to be able to fish all the fishing spots in an area as fast as possible and still be able to maintain concentration with fish food). My suggestion to you is not to focus on this quest but focus on leveling fishing and come back to lir once you are lvl 50+ and fish off the dock near the tavern in rapid mode and once you are high enough, rapid fish the small pier where lvl 40 fish spots spawn (lvl70+). Also once you get down to just needing a single item, I would suggest buying it off the AH if you can find one, as the drop is random and you will no doubt end up with duplicates. Crumbling items sell for about 50K on Arawn. Good luck.

There's a possibility that it might happen. Someone is severely allergic to bee venom, one stings him/her while he/she were at the Grand Canyon, he/she freaks out and as a result he/she slips and falls to his/her ultimate doom.

I posted my results from another 2 1/2 hours of fishing with no relics, but my post was deleted for some reason. Maybe because I said the rng was horrible? Seems like the moderators on these forums are really touchy compared to other games.

I think he meant you fall first then on the way down assuming your not hitting anything on the way down get stung and die before you go splat lol
