Guys, you have all been tricked and you didn't know it lol. A super xp lix DOESNT give you 4x more xp. If you get 100% xp normally, and you get 400% xp on a lix. 400-100, you only get 3x more xp. But its 4x normal, but its 3x more. Mind blown.

You get x4 more lol. 100 x4 = 400 100x3 doesn't equal 300.

Let's say I take a pie and cut it in quarters. I take 1/4(normal xp), then someone gives me the other 3 quarters(super xp). Those 3 quarters are 3 times as much as my 1 piece.

I believe you are confused with this subtle distinction:
"4 times the xp" = xp * 4
"4 more times the xp" = xp + (xp + xp + xp + xp) = xp + xp * 4

Elixirs are described via the former definition: "...allows you to gain four times the amount of XP from kills, fishing and cooking"

For some reason you’re forgetting the base XP.

In your pie example, you’re adding on 3x more, but ignoring the base 1 that was there to begin with. When your friend gives you 3 pieces back, you don’t suddenly throw away your original piece and say you’ve received 3x more.

It's hard to explain because you are wrong in your interpretation of what the elixer says.

Perfect example of overthinking and over complicating something to the point that you dont even know whats right or wrong anymore when clearly its simple. Read the elixer description:

"allows you got gain four times the amount of xp from kills, fishing and cooking"

...so if you normally get 100xp from a kill, with an elixer youre gonna get four times the amount instead which is 400xp.
