Re: Should I continue my rouge or start a ranger?

Just pointing out to the OP that every class has pros and cons and every class can be good at soloing. I don't think rangers are better then rogues or rogues are better then rangers at soloing. Its all about the player and how they play. And I have many examples.

oh btw, every class uses res pots and elix (combo or regular) to solo. Can't really say Kaat using combos and pots is a bad thing. I use them while I solo also. Warriors use them , mages, and yes even druids. What a druid saves on res pots they spend more on elix because they kill slower.

just my opinion, right or wrong.

The point of my post was not using restos/pots, or even about the speed of leveling - or the cost of that speed. My point was simply to say that ranger has more built in soloing skills. I never said using them was a bad thing either o.O nor did I mention druid ever. No one has answered how rogue happens to be a 'better' soloer - except Elim who mentioned that pots/restos if used with no regard to cost make for more efficient leveling. That is more along the lines of the kind of answer I was looking for, thanks Elim :)

I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

So basically, out of everyone's comments. If you wanna save money because yer not as rich as most or a plat buyer, pick a ranger. But if you have unlimited amounts of cash, then pick a rogue? But both classes with resto pots, rogues would be the victor for their quick kills.

Honestly using me as an example for a rogue is not fare. I am such a high level that i steal exp when I am in groups plus I train more than there are people wanting to group. I love to train and spend hours doing so. So I am forced to solo more than group. I use combos because as a rogue I am a little more squishy. The combos give me the extra defense I need. At lower levels I was able to group and rarely used pots or anything other than the regular lix. Cost is not an issue at lower level just at the higher levels and if your crazy like me who loves to train.

I have played as a Rogue since day one and for the longest time didn't see the need to be anything but a Rogue because the bad armor could be offset with a good DPS build. Then one day I decided to work on a Druid and dual device the Dru with my Rogue, as a result I was and still am effectively soloing a lot of bosses with this pair without using rez/restos. For me, there was no need for another class to work on because I was happy with this duo...

Happy that is until I sat and watched a level 130 Ranger efficiently and effectively solo a boss, no dual device, no plat items, no high end gear needed. It was at that point that I decided to start my own Ranger, even though my wife had been telling me all along to just build one and I would like it. I can honestly say that tearing through stuff with my Rogue is a blast, but I wind up dual logging my Druid, so when I am wanting to solo without any support or use of Plat items, it has been the most fun with my Ranger all the way.

Looking forward to leveling both after the update, but my time has been kind of split between the two and may just swing towards the Ranger side because of the all around abilities they have. My suggestion is I to continue with your Rogue and start on a Ranger too. :D
