New Plans For Celtic Heroes.

Hello all, this article will include spoilers, so if you don't want to see them, don't read this.
Also, I advise you too google our server names, you will learn a lot. OneThumbMobile are geniuses.

Okay, so. We have our events, Samhain, which is a festival of the dead. Irish mythology was originally a spoken tradition, but the tales were eventually written down by Christian monks in the Middle Ages, who are thought to have Christianized many of them. According to Irish mythology, Samhain (like Beltane) was a time when the 'door' to the Otherworld opened enough for fairies and the dead to communicate with us; but while Beltane was a summer festival for the living, Samhain "was essentially a festival for the dead".

Beltane, which we find in our summer events, comes after midsummer. And by knowing this, what would be the third thing after Beltane, by knowing this event, we can infer the next summer plan that Celtic Heroes as to offer. It will be called Lammas, LA-MAI-A'S.

For explanation on cakes, and mask. keep reading.

CAKES

Trick-or-treating may have come from the custom of going door-to-door collecting food for Samhain feasts, fuel for Samhain bonfires and/or offerings for the spirits and fairies. Alternatively, it may have come from the English All Saints/All Souls custom of collecting soul cakes.

MASK'S

Wearing costumes and masks (or 'guising') may have been another way to befuddle, ward-off or represent the harmful spirits and fairies.
In Scotland, young men would dress in white with masked, veiled or blackened faces. This was common in the 16th century in the Scottish countryside and persisted into the 20th. Hutton writes: "When imitating malignant spirits it was a very short step from guising to playing pranks". Playing pranks at Samhain is recorded in the Scottish Highlands as far back as 1736 and was also common in Ireland, which led to Samhain being nicknamed "Mischief Night" in some parts. Guising and pranks at All Saints isn't thought to have reached England until the 20th century, though mumming had been done at other festivals.

You Can expect Mummies, Soul cakes, white horses, horse masks, and much more in the next Halloween event, no clue yet on the name, Stay tuned.

lammas - Lammas growth, also called Lammas leaves, Lammas flush, second shoots, or summer shoots, is a season of renewed growth in some trees in temperate regions put on in July and August (if in the northern hemisphere, January and February if in the southern), that is around Lammas day, August 1, which is the Celtic harvest festival.

It can occur in both hardwoods and softwoods. Examples of common trees which exhibit regrowth are oak, ash, beech, sycamore, yew, scots pine, sitka spruce and hawthorn. This secondary growth may be an evolutionary strategy to compensate for leaf damage caused by insects during the spring. It is not present in poplar, birch or willow.

Lammas growth declines with the age of the tree, being most vigorous and noticeable in young trees. It differs in nature from spring growth which is fixed when leaves and shoots are laid down in the bud the previous year. The lammas flush is free growth of newly made leaves/needles throughout the tree. One or more of the buds set in the Spring on the ends of terminal and lateral stems will break, and begin to grow, producing a new shoot.

OneThumbMobile WILL bring back the pine's and items you collected from the fairys to add to the "blooming" of the lammas event. " Tree blooming ".

Server names are from Irish/Celtic Lore and Mythology, names of gods/goddesses. Hardly the stuff of geniuses. It's a shame Celtic Mythology isn't as popular as Greek or Roman, there should be more movies/books about them.

Its still interesting to find connections in a game that you been playing for two years.
They could have done a lot more with the names, considering my server is named after a season.
Oh i agree. OTM has the opportunity to make Irish/Celtic myths more popular with the game's setting and making more quests that expound on Celtic lore and culture. There is just not enough quests and whatever references to them are within the game are vague and buried underneath npc dialogues. Im sure Samhain and Beltane festivals are now somewhat familiar to more people, but they could definitely do more. They need to add a real writer into their team.

are you volunteering?
In the history of RPGs, one of the best ones I've played that have an immersive storyline are usually those that have a talented writer involved, such as Betrayal at Krondor with Raymond Feist penning the quests and dialogues. The same with Dragon Age series with David Gaider or R.A. Salvatore's involvement in Reckoning. Programmers usually just don't have the talent/style and teaming them up with those who do would produce a much better product.
