Re: Season 5 Walking Dead
#43The part about the zombies bring a dream I know right!! One minute they were holding the doors to try the close them. Next minute they were sprawled out sleeping...Difficult to distinguish between what is dream and what is reality in the latest episode.
Were the zombies at the barn a dream?
Is she still dreaming at the end re the music box and this new dude? (hadn't thought much re this one till it was mentioned to me)
My thing is, anyone outside of Rick's group wouldn't really say 'good' things about him, because they've either been steam rolled by the group or joined it.
I've not read the comics so I've no clue what's coming, just pondering this newcomer....
Good episode!
Who is this new guy!!?? How did he know Rick's name?
Where is Tara's sister???
Bring in Morgan already so he can CLEAR!! I think he is Noah's Uncle.
@Pigman I'm not sure if Maggie will pull herself together or end up a loose cannon. The showing Sasha of the sunrise is a good sign.
PS it's pissing me off how they all keep splitting up or wandering away.
Daryl off to look for water/ smoke a cigarette and cry...
Maggie getting Sasha to look at the sky
Them leaving Noah with Tyrese!
Splitting the group no bueno.

#44I honestly felt bad when the Priest took his collar off showing Maggie she was right. Him not opening the doors to save the people was terrible but he has to live with that decision. Or will he....
Maybe he will man up grow some pebbles..

#45Pebbles? BWAHAHAHAHAH!
I never enjoyed the priest's presence ever since he appeared last season...don't care for him...he can go on the list of people who can be eaten, along with with Bob and Beth.
BTW, am I the only one thinking there are a lot of black people backstories being played? I don't mean to raise arguments here but..well...
They are ill developed. They don't seem to carry the same effects as those of the coincidentally white. For example, Rick's story was captivating; Shane's was awesome; Daryl's was good. Tyreses, bobs, and everyone else's is just not hitting the spot. I know for sure its not the sadness..maybe its the emotional unrest...maybe the writers over-did their work in proving Tyrese had emotions and Bob was not as easygoing as he seems.
I think the writers are trying way too hard to bring racial diversity. Just include it at a normal pace and depth and it will all be okay.

#46They took Tyrese? I'm only on season four but he had so much more room for growth as a character in my opinion.Nope
On topic though, i miss tyrese already, but definately like the way the show has taken maggie recently
as long as they stay away from Daryl and Carl I'd be fine though.

Good points that I never looked at that way. T Dog with his noble departure had me like oh noooo. I think the Priest or Sasha is next to go. Priest needs to step his game up or he is out. Sasha is losing it, may slip up get hurt or others.
Oberyn it was a nicer way of saying what I wanted on the pebbles ha.

Re: Season 5 Walking Dead
#50The impression I had, rightly or wrongly, was that the horde besieging the barn was broken and scattered by the raging tempest without.
Whether the tempest ever reached a state where it could be classified a tornado, I do not know, but certainly it was sufficient to snap trees as though twigs, and impale remnants of the horde upon the fractured boughs.
Unlikely though it may seem for the barn and its occupants to have survived such a storm, it is not impossible, and could also have been acknowledged by the voiced recognition that it was a miracle for them to have survived.
I thought it a nice touch in terms of character development that Daryl, clearly traumatised by recent events and shutting down emotionally, was shown using the business end of a cigarette in a vain attempt to feel something other than the consuming darkness... The burning tip in stark contrast to his dead, coal-like, eyes.
His disconnect from Carol was further evidence of his growing emotional detachment and numbness as well, though not the only evidence...
Towards the episode's end, when Rick suggested they may need to become as the walking dead themselves, and in order to survive, Daryl twice replied "we dem"... His hollow and hushed voice belying the internal scream that he feels he is already dead inside.
As the dark gave way to a new day, even as the passing storm gave way to music in the form of the musical box, there was one last twist in the tale as day brought with it a herald in the form of the stranger. Whether the herald brings fair or foul report is yet to be seen. Certainly the portents appear good, but if it proves otherwise then it would not be for the first time this season, or indeed this very episode, where we have already seen a false dawn... The rain had also offered hope, but delivered yet more peril.
True there was the gift of bottled water, and letter of friendship, though whether the promise was as shallow as that of the coming rain is unknown at this time. Perhaps the gift was in fact genuine and the message being that they need the help of others if they are to survive... that embracing humanity in general is preferable to becoming as the walking dead.
There is also the matter of the dogs. Were they simply wild, or trained to track the group?
Whether the dog's are connected to the stranger in anyway, I would guess he at least has a link to the mysterious figure that tracked them to the church a few episodes past. That same figure who, in doing so, discovered Abraham's note to Rick which, as well as giving their heading, read something along the lines of 'the new world needs Rick Grimes'.
@purple... Ty for your kind words regarding my previous post. Your supposition regarding the aforementioned tracker (Morgan) is an intriguing one. The prospect of him being a relation of an existing group member is one of many possibilities I too had considered previously, though I had been airing more towards Tyreese and Sasha in that eventuality. It might seem rather improbable, but is considerably less so than Rick waking from a coma, alone in the world, to later be reunited with not only his wife and son, but also his partner and best friend.
@Oberyn... I've not had a problem with any of backstories to date, irrespective of who they relate to. After Tyreese, I would have to say that Michonne is my next favourite character of the show (though against popular opinion, I also found Beth endearing, so I appreciate that opinions will vary). It's worth remembering though, that the writers have had far more time to cultivate the storylines of the early cast members and these will naturally feel somewhat more refined than new arrivals whose backstories are all playing catchup. Not to mention the fact that some characters have an all to brief presence, yet one that needs to be felt. I think this is true of all the new characters... If you compare the backstory of the priest, to that of Abraham for example, there is little difference in terms of feel and execution.
All the best
